How to Schedule a Tornado Shelter Installation
During off-season, your storm cellar installation can be scheduled within two to four weeks of the date you call, but please keep in mind that installations during spring and summer months can take up to 12-16 weeks to get you scheduled. Depending on the season, rain and severe weather can also delay our schedule.
No down payment is required to get on our schedule but payment is due in full at the time of installation. Storm shelter financing options are available.
When you are ready to schedule your underground tornado shelter or above ground safe room installation, give us a call at 405-600-4905. Once we have your information, we will schedule you and e-mail you a storm shelter contract.
Sprague’s Backhoe will contact OKIE 811 to locate member companies’ lines before we start your job. Note: OKIE 811 does not locate gas lines, sewer lines or water lines from the meter to the house, private water and septic lines or sprinkler lines. It is the customer’s responsibility to know the location of private lines.
Storm Shelters and Safe Rooms: Extra Services & Fees
Depending on the storm shelter you choose, after we backfill and dress up your yard, there will be 1-2 dump truck loads of dirt leftover. Dirt haul off is available for an extra fee, which will be discussed at the time of scheduling, but most people choose to keep their dirt if space allows.
Installations over 60 miles away could incur a travel charge, which will be discussed at the time of scheduling.
It is the homeowner’s responsibility to obtain a storm shelter permit from their city office, if required, but each city has different requirements and pricing. Please call your local city office for details about tornado shelter permits in your area.
Storm Shelter Placement
As long as access allows, we can install your underground tornado shelter or above ground safe room wherever you want it. Most people choose to install their cellars within a few feet of their homes.
Due to the size of our equipment and trucks, we will need at least a 10’ wide and 14’ tall path to get to the installation site.
Underground Tornado Shelter Installation Video
Below is a sped-up video of a storm shelter installation from start to finish. Sprague’s Backhoe installed this easy access tornado shelter in 2017 in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
After your storm shelter or safe room is installed, make sure you register it with your local city, county or fire department so Oklahoma first responders know where to look in case a tornado strikes.
Tornado Storm Shelter and Safe Room Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After a long absolutely horrible experience with another storm shelter company that resulted in us demanding full removal of our shelter and cancelation of our contract we ended up going with Sprague’s Backhoe. The two experiences were like night and day. Everything went smoothly with Sprague’s. Dealing with Stacey and Jack was a pleasure. Stacey is so sweet and they both talk to you like you are old friends. Stacey helped us with everything concerning our rebate from our city’s grant and gave us confidence that everything was done correctly. – Sarah G., February 9, 2018
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had our storm shelter installed today. We highly recommend Sprague’s Backhoe, Stacey and Jack were both great throughout the entire process. We called around to several companies and they were by far the best. I love the fact that they are local and they made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. Thank you guys so much! – Jamye H., March 18, 2019
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We already have an in ground shelter but mom’s knees can’t make the stairs anymore. She got this so she can get in and out easily. We have already put in a little corner shelf and some chairs inside. Now to just get supplies inside. Mom really loves the door on it. – Susan M., Blanchard, OK
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Above ground concrete shelter installed in March 15, 2019. Very professional and knowledgeable with all rebate paperwork provided promptly for me to submit. I recommend Jack and Stacey Sprague Backhoe for your storm shelter purchase and installation. I try to support local businesses whenever possible because my parents owned a small business in Duncan OK for many years and my Son own a heating and air conditioning business in Mustang. – Terrie T., Tuttle, OK
