What is Wind?
Wind is the natural movement of air across the Earth’s surface, created by differences in atmospheric pressure. It can range from gentle breezes to powerful gusts and is a key factor in weather systems, including storms and tornadoes.
In severe weather conditions, strong winds can cause damage by uprooting trees, damaging structures, and creating dangerous flying debris. Tornadoes, one of the most extreme wind phenomena, form when warm and cold air masses collide, generating intense rotating winds.
For storm preparedness, understanding wind speed and direction is crucial. Safe rooms and storm shelters provide essential protection against high winds, ensuring safety from flying debris and structural damage during severe storms.
