Overcast

Overcast refers to a sky covered entirely by clouds, blocking direct sunlight and often indicating potential storms or precipitation.

What is Overcast?

Overcast is a weather condition in which the sky is completely covered by clouds, preventing sunlight from reaching the ground. This often results in a dull, gray appearance and can indicate changing weather conditions.

Overcast skies are commonly associated with approaching storms, rain, or even severe weather events such as tornadoes. When overcast conditions persist, they can signal increased atmospheric moisture and instability, which may lead to thunderstorms or heavy precipitation.

For homeowners considering storm shelters, overcast weather can be an early warning sign to stay alert and monitor weather updates. While not always a direct indicator of severe weather, an overcast sky combined with dropping temperatures or rising humidity levels can suggest storm development.

Those living in tornado-prone areas should pay attention to overcast conditions, as they sometimes precede the formation of supercells, which can spawn tornadoes. Being prepared with a storm shelter or safe room can provide peace of mind during unpredictable weather changes.

Installation & Service Area Info

We proudly install storm shelters across Oklahoma only — we do not travel to other states, and we’re unable to make exceptions — but there are a few things to know:

  • Above ground shelter installations over 60 miles from our office in Bridge Creek may include a delivery charge.

  • Below ground shelter installations are typically limited to a 60-mile radius, though we occasionally go a bit farther with an additional fee.

  • We do not install or remove storm shelters inside garages.

➡️ Please check our Service Area page for more details about where we travel.
