What is a Horseshoe Vortex?
A horseshoe vortex is a distinctive, U-shaped flow of rotating air that often forms when air encounters an obstacle, such as a building, hill, or weather system. The air wraps around the object, creating a vortex pattern that resembles a horseshoe when viewed from above. In meteorology, horseshoe vortices are critical in understanding severe weather phenomena, including tornado development.
