Where are your storm shelters made? Our storm shelters are made in Elmore City, Oklahoma.

Do your storm shelters meet FEMA guidelines? All storm shelters sold and installed by Sprague’s Backhoe exceed FEMA guidelines.

How long does it take to install a concrete storm shelter? There are many factors that go into the installation of a storm shelter, but most of the time, we have it done within 2-3 hours from start to finish!

How do I register my storm shelterRegistering your storm shelter is a service provided by most cities to help first responders locate people in case of an emergency.  Registering your storm shelter can be done online or over the phone.  See our post on Registering Your Storm Shelter.

What happens if debris falls on the storm shelter and we can’t get out? Don’t panic. We recommend waiting for first responders to get to you before trying to get out. If you have registered your storm shelter, they know where you are. If you force open the shelter door, the debris might fall in and cause injuries to people inside.

How long will it take to get my storm shelter after I order it? 2-3 weeks, maybe sooner if you’re flexible. If you call us after a tornadic storm, expect a 6-8 week wait. It’s always better to beat the storms and schedule ahead of time!

Do I have to get a permit before you install my storm shelter? Most cities require a building permit before you can install a storm shelter. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to obtain this permit. See our post on How to Obtain a Storm Shelter Permit.

How many people will my storm shelter hold? This depends on which shelter you choose. You can read about individual shelters on our product page. If you need help deciding which shelter is best for you, give us a call at 405-367-7655. We are happy to help.

Is a flat top storm shelter safer than the slope front storm shelterWe get asked this all the time. The answer is no. They are equally safe. It’s 100% an aesthetic thing.

Will having a storm shelter increase the value of my home? We aren’t sure if it actually increases the value of your home, but having a storm shelter is never a bad thing to have in Oklahoma! As friends of several realtors, we can tell you that a lot of Oklahoma buyers look for homes with storm shelters already installed.

Where is the best place to put a storm shelter? You’re the boss. We will install your storm shelter wherever you’d like it. We recommend putting it in a place where you can get to it in a hurry during a storm. Backyards are the most common place that we install our shelters. If you need help choosing a spot, we are happy to help.

When do I have to pay for my storm shelter? Storm shelter payments are due in full on the day of installation. Sprague’s Backhoe accepts cash, checks and all major credit cards.

Do you offer financing? We do! Financing is based on credit scores. Interest rates are currently 2.99% and are subject to change.

I’m moving, can I take my storm shelter or safe room with me? In most cases, YES! Contact us and we will be happy to help!

I’m renting my house, can I install a storm shelter? That’s up to your landlord. If he/she is ok with it, so are we!

When is the best time to buy a storm shelter? Our down time for storm shelters is between September and January. We recommend purchasing your storm shelter during these months to avoid a long waiting list.
