At Sprague’s Backhoe, we believe every detail matters—especially when it comes to something as important as a storm shelter. That’s why most of our below ground storm shelters in Oklahoma now include EPRO coating at no additional cost.
What Is EPRO?
EPRO is a water-resistant coating applied to the underside of our precast concrete storm shelters. Once applied, it forms a rubber-like barrier between the storm shelter and the ground.
This barrier is designed to:
-
Resist water infiltration
-
Add a layer of moisture protection
-
Increase long-term durability
-
Help maintain a dry interior, even during heavy rain
It’s painted on like a protective seal and dries to form a flexible membrane—perfect for withstanding the harsh underground environment common across Oklahoma soil types.
Why EPRO Matters for Below Ground Shelters
While all of our shelters are built tough, underground environments naturally come with added moisture. That’s where EPRO comes in.
It helps minimize:
-
Ground moisture exposure
-
Long-term wear beneath the surface
-
Risk of water-related damage to your shelter’s underside
We’ve added EPRO to most of our below ground models because we believe extra protection shouldn’t cost extra.
Where You’ll Find EPRO in Action
We’ve installed EPRO-coated storm shelters across the state—including cities like:

-
