THE HISTORY OF
PAWSITIVELY PAMPERED
It’s been almost 13 years since our family adopted our dog, Ellie, from Pets & People Humane Society in Yukon. This is one of my favorite animal rescues.
Shortly after we adopted Ellie, I wanted to get more involved with this rescue. As a mom with a toddler (just one at the time), there weren’t many available hours in my day to go volunteer, so I figured the best way to help was to coordinate a fundraising event.
A dog wash…like one of those parking lot car washes, but with dogs.
I worked with 2 wonderful ladies from Pets & People Humane Society to pull it together and it was a HUGE success. HUGE. We decided to make it an annual event. One year, we even did 2. We named our annual event Pawsitively Pampered.
For the last 11 years, we’ve had 12 awesome events. And they get bigger and better every year. We’ve raised tens of thousands of dollars for the rescue.
Ellie passed away suddenly and unexpectedly just a couple of days before our 10 year event, so now, the event is in her memory.
Families and dog owners from all over the state drive to Yukon every year to attend this annual event. Here are the top 8 reasons why they come and you should to!
1. You can bring your dog
…and your kids. Bring the whole family.
We have tons of dog washers and 10-12 groomers at the event to pamper your four-legged friends at a super DISCOUNTED price.
Dog Wash – $10-20 based on size and fluffiness
Grooming – $20-30 based on size and fluffiness
Nail Trims – $10
The dogs LOVE all of the attention they get at this event. Some of our vendors even bring treats for them!
2. we have 5 food trucks
Who can resist food trucks? Not us. We’re obsessed.
We’ve got 5 lined up this year and they.are.amazing. I never leave this event with an empty stomach. Ever. And this year’s lineup is going to have me needing to pace myself.
See Facebook Event Page for this year’s food truck lineup!
3. Shopping for the whole family
We have so many vendors this year. I’m one of those crazy people that starts Christmas shopping during the summer so I love that I can shop for literally everyone at this event…even the dogs. There’s makeup. There’s jewelry. Dog treats. Dog accessories. Kitchen utensils. Clothing. Books. Candles. Handmade crafts. Local businesses. Pet services. Just to name a few.
Check the Facebook event page to see the most up to date vendor list.

4. it's for a good cause
Every single penny we make at this event is donated to Pets & People Humane Society. All of it. This no-kill animal shelter uses it to take care of dogs & cats waiting to find their fur-ever (see what I did there?) homes. Last year we raised over $10,000 at our event.
5. we have a live dj
D&D Entertainment is going to be our LIVE DJ again this year and we are so excited to have him back! He did such a great job last year! 6 hours of pure entertainment. We can’t wait!
6. it's still technically summer
Y’all. It’s still warm outside. But not for too much longer. Soak up the sun. Eat a snow cone. Let your dog soak up the sun in one of our doggie pools.
7. it's our 12th event
We can not wait to celebrate our 12th event anniversary with all of you! It’s going to be the biggest & best event yet! Each year, it gets bigger and better. Make sure you are following our Facebook event page so you can receive event updates.
8. it's fun for the kids, too!
There are dogs everywhere. We have a face painter. There are snow cones. Kid friendly booths. They might even see some of their friends!
